Biography
Christine Durinx is Joint Executive Director of SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. She joined this non-profit, academic foundation in 2014 as Associate Director and was appointed Joint Executive Director in June 2018. SIB includes some 80 world-class research and service groups, bringing together 800 scientists, of whom 190 are SIB employees. SIB is a driving force in the field of data science for biological research and health, both in Switzerland and internationally. Christine Durinx holds a degree in Pharmacy and a PhD (protein structure and enzyme kinetics). Before joining SIB, she worked in several pharmaceutical multinationals. Christine Durinx is an external expert for open science and research infrastructures for the French organizations ANR and CNRS. In 2018, she was nominated for the Benjamin Franklin Award for Open Access in the Life Sciences. Christine Durinx has been co-leading the ELIXIR data platform from 2015-2019.
