Nowadays, scholars and students pursuing empirical or computational research need to deal with increasing complexity when working with scientific assets. This complexity derives mainly from the increase in the number, size, and variety of files, data, and applications, as well as from all the necessary dependencies needed to perform an analysis. Failure to efficiently organize and manage these assets can lead to technological nuisances that hold back scientific productivity, damage collaboration effort, and prevent reproducibility. To overcome this challenge, Alphacruncher has developed Nuvolos. Nuvolos is a knowledge-creating cloud-based platform easily accessible from the browser, which integrates files, data, computations, and applications into unified complete workflows. Nuvolos is an optimal solution both for education and research. In education, a teacher uses Nuvolos to create a class, invite students and share with them interactively data and code, without the need to worry about hardware or software differences: All students are guaranteed to work under an identical digital environment. On the research side, researchers can run, share and snapshot several research projects using different combinations of files, data, and applications. Each research snapshot is saved with the exact environment and dependencies used in the analysis, thus guaranteeing the full future reproducibility of results. To illustrate the benefits of Nuvolos for scientific productivity, we will explain and illustrate its main features and functionalities. The main building blocks of the demonstration will involve (i) creating a class, (ii) uploading material, (iii) adding applications, (iv) inviting students, (v) sharing material with students, (vi) interacting with files and tables via the web interface and via applications, and (vii) saving snapshots of complete work environments.
